As he pointed out, this project “will help entrepreneurs to turn their business ideas related to space into commercial companies” and is aligned “with the commitment of the Government of the Generalitat to entrepreneurship, knowledge, talent and innovation”.
Vicente Martínez Mus highlighted the role of Castellón airport, “which will become a space of opportunity for innovation and the development of new space-related technologies”.
ESA-BIC
The program will have an initial duration of three editions and will promote a total of twelve business projects. The objective is to support the birth and consolidation of new companies in the aerospace sector, as well as the transfer of innovative solutions based on space technologies to other sectors.
The project covers several aspects, such as: search and recruitment of space-related start-ups; training, networking sessions, investor forums, working groups, conferences, ESA-BIC meetings at national and European level; business, legal and technical support, as well as provision of facilities for start-ups.
The ESA-BIC has been promoted by the Generalitat, through the public company Castellón Airport (Aerocas), in collaboration with the Valencian space consortium ValSpace and the General Directorate of Innovation of the Generalitat. In addition, the initiative has nearly 40 collaborating entities, including business and professional organizations, universities, technology institutes and companies.
The influence of ESA-BIC extends to the entire territory of the Valencian Community. With this objective, a nodal model has been proposed, with three territorial centers, one for each province.
